Today marks 20 years since Thames Side Sensors became part of the Spanish family-owned business Tecnicas Group, marking two decades of shared expertise, challenges overcome and continued development in industrial weighing.
The story began in 2006, when the Tecnicas Group, a family-owned business in Barcelona, acquired the process weighing product line and assets of Thames-Side Maywood. Since then, Barcelona has been home to the group's primary manufacturing facility, supporting Thames Side’s development and production of weighing technology used by customers across the entire world.
Over the past two decades, the two companies have worked together to build on their expertise and strengthen their offering. Today, Thames Side Sensors supplies a comprehensive range of load cells, unique mounting accessories and instrumentation, helping customers achieve accurate, reliable weighing across applications including silos, tanks, hoppers, industrial scales, filling systems and process machinery.
Thames Side’s capabilities go beyond supplying individual components. With specialist engineering knowledge, innovative weighing modules such as the patented LeverMount® and MasterMount®, and dedicated free-of-charge technical support, the Thames Side team helps customers find practical solutions to their weighing challenges every day. Products are designed and rigorously tested one-by-one to deliver dependable performance, even in demanding industrial environments.
Of course, the journey hasn't been without its challenges. But 20 years of working together has brought plenty of opportunities to learn, adapt and develop, building relationships and expertise along the way.
In 2023, the Tecnicas Group was acquired by US-based Rice Lake Weighing Systems, bringing an exciting new chapter and new investment to the business while Thames Side Sensors continued to operate from its established locations: Reading (UK), Barcelona (Spain) and Mumbai (India).
As the team celebrates this milestone, it's a chance to recognise the people, partnerships and shared commitment that have helped shape the business over the past 20 years.
