New arrangements for trading with European Union customers

In 2020, in response to the trading difficulties caused by the ‘Brexit’, we created a European subsidiary company (in Ireland) to allow for smooth business operations with our valued customers in the European Union and fast shipments completely within the European Union – from our warehouse in Spain. This was because the trading environment between the UK and the European Union was challenging at that time.  With the added difficulties due to the Coronavirus pandemic, our European Union customers welcomed our decision to create a European subsidiary company.

Now, it is much easier for a UK-registered company to do business with companies in the European Union, as the trading environment is now more settled than 5 years ago.  We have seen an opportunity to streamline and simplify the way that we do business with our valued customers in the European Union and we can now trade with these customers as our UK-registered parent company (with products still being sent from Spain).

We will do this from 1st August 2025 onwards.

The simplified company operations will allow us to minimise any future price increases for our products and it will benefit our customers.

Our UK-registered parent company now has a Spanish (ES) VAT number, as our Irish subsidiary did, and we will continue to trade with our European Union customers as before.  From 1st August 2025, we will receive Purchase Orders and send Invoices as the UK-registered parent company.

The UK company is now registered to trade with the European Union, because it has an “ROI” number in Spain which allows intra-community operations.  All the necessary documentation is already in place, so the transition for our European Union customers will be smooth.

What we ask our customers to change

We ask our existing European Union customers to register our UK company in their supplier database, or even to re-activate our old UK supplier account if they already traded with us before 2021.  Our new Spanish VAT number and the number for intra-community operations (‘ROI’) within the European Union is ESN0329199D.

This can be checked here: https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/#/vat-validation (the prefix ES should be removed from the number before entering it into the VAT number field on the VIES website).

Please consider the following details for the new supplier account:

Thames Side Sensors Limited
Unit 10, io Trade Centre
Deacon Way
Reading RG30 6AZ
United Kingdom

Company number 05864561, registered in England

For sales to European Union customers: shipments will be made from Barcelona, Spain, according to the VAT number ESN0329199D.

This can be verified as valid here: https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/#/vat-validation (the prefix ES should be removed from the number before entering it into the VAT number field on the VIES website).

Process for existing orders for despatch after 31 July 2025 and bank payments

For all existing sales orders which we will send (and invoice) after 31st July 2025, please re-issue your Purchase Order to the UK company “Thames Side Sensors Limited” with details above.  Payment for those orders will need to be sent to our Euro bank account for the UK company.

The bank account for payments from customers in the European Union will change from 1st August.  This will be with Banco Sabadell in London and it will be the same Euro currency account as previously used for customers trading with us before 2021.  Details of the correct account for making payments to us will be provided on the invoice relating to the supply of the goods.  Please ensure that payment is made to the correct account.
